A Guide To Tbilisi Driving i тажно, но вистинито!

Gamarjoba bixhebo! Rogor hart?

1. Turn signals will give away your next move. A confident Tbilisi driver avoids using them.

2. Under no circumstance should you maintain a safe distance between you and the car in front of you, because somebody else will fill in the pace, putting you in an even more dangerous situation.

3. The faster you drive through a red light, the less chance you have of getting hit.

4. Never get in the way of an older car that needs extensive bodywork. With no insurance, the other operator probably has nothing to lose.

5. Braking is to be done as hard and late as possible to ensure that your ABS kicks in, giving a vigorous, foot massage as the brake pedal violently pulsates. For those of you without ABS, it's a chance to strengthen your leg muscles.

6. Never pass on the left when you can pass on the right. It's a good way to prepare other drivers entering the motorway.

7. Speed limits are arbitrary figures, given only as a suggestion and are not enforceable in Tbilisi during rush hour.

8. Always brake and rubberneck when you see an accident or even someone changing a tyre. This is seen as a sign of respect for the victim.

9. Learn to swerve abruptly without signalling. Tbilisi is the home of high-speed slalom driving thanks to the Municipality, which puts potholes in key locations to test drivers' reflexes and keep them alert!

10. It is tradition in Tbilisi to honk your horn at cars in front of you that do not move three milliseconds after the light turns green.

11. To avoid injury in the event of a collision or rollover, it is important to exit your vehicle through the windscreen right away. Wearing your seat belt will only impede your hi-velocity escape from danger.

12. Remember that the goal of every Tbilisi driver is to get ahead of the pack by whatever means necessary.

13. Remember this simple rule - Green for go, Amber for go, Red for proceed with caution.

14. WARNING! Never come to a complete stop at a stop sign. No one expects it and it will result in you being rear-ended.

15. Police have a rigorous fitness test built into their training but seldom get to use it on the job. Therefore it is deemed a courtesy to Patrol Police to increase speed when you see them about to step onto the road. Their honed instincts and training will kick in and if you look in your rear view mirror as you speed away, they will give you a friendly gesture of thanks.

Memories of a chanced Man

On the lonely hilltop I stood,
staring through the shadows
as the mist grew stronger.
I saw someone rising,
in cloaked strange attire, with one arm trust forward.
Lo and behold, a dead, skeletal hand it was.
Stupefied, I saw a child,
running into the darkness.
With torn clothes, tripping over barren rocks.
Vaguely familiar he seemed,
And I cried:
Who are you in this unholy hour?
And in such ungodly place!
Ask me not, kind sir. For I cannot say.
Fell things roam the night when the future is in the past.
He said and again he fled.
Alas, the boy tripped and fell
Blindly gasping for air.
Stiff, petrified, I turned toward the hand
the scrawny fingers shot towards him
and a white light blazed.
Suddenly I jumped in front,
trying to shield the boy.
Hugging him, a pain, sweet as rain,
swept all over me.
Your safe, little boy, I said.
I fell and thought I was no more.
Foolish man,
I heard a shrill voice speak.
Meddling into affairs beyond men.
Brave was the thing you did,
Awake,
I grant you another chance.

Weakness

Hidden in the darkness of the beyond world,
The evil that dwells
Deep in the holes and caves,
Lurks with malice from the pits and cracks,
Ever awaiting a chance
To bring doom upon all.
It wants to cover the world
With an everlasting shadow.
Filling the hearts of men with fear
And enslaving the spirits brave and free
But only if we let it,
And allow it to grow
As we are,
And we did,
In our weakness.

Where the Angels go!

I stood on alone, nowhere to go,
gazing in the distance,
with a faraway look on my face
Lost, deep in my thoughts,
I cried, blood tears freezing me.

And I wept,
And I smiled,
And I knew!

For her love is here, with us,
as always and never again
for she dances above
in the fair gardens of heaven
smiling over us, loving, watching.

And I weep,
And I smile,
And I know!

Again, standing on the mountain,
broken and lost, alone, searching,
For I saw the light burning
above, on the dark and cloudy sky,
her fair smile, I saw and found my way.

And She smiled,
And I know,
Forever!
